LIY 101 - Intro to Yoga

Course Objective

Comprehensive Introduction to Yoga to dispel the wrong perception of Yoga provided by the Hatha Yoga approach of the marketplace. The course is accessible to all. Practice elements in the course focus on breath yoga and gentle physical yoga exercises.

- History of Yoga, How it Heals, Divisions of Yoga

- Relevance of Breath Yoga

- Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Implications on Practices, especially Meditation

- Planning a daily & weekly regimen

Practice Content:

- Breath Yoga – Kapaalabhaati, Bastrika, Bhramari, Atma-Vyakta Mudra, Baahya Kumbhaka, Learning to Observe Thoughts

- Gentle Yoga

Target Audience

Anyone 12+ years, who is not restricted to do breathing practices and gentle physical exercises.

LIY 110 - Stress Management

Defining stress; Exploring sources of stress; method to remove stress;

Course Content

Defining stress; Exploring sources of stress; Explaining the concept of energy balance in yoga; method to remove stress; Practice of physical, breath, vibration, thought and pure observation exercises that release stress; Building a system to resist stress through attitudinal and lifestyle change.

LIY 201 - Intro to Hatha Yoga

Step by step instruction of the standard Asanas or postures designed for those interested in great physical fitness.

Course Content

- Do’s and Don’ts for safe practice

Practice Content:

- Surya Namaskar, Bhujangaasana, Salabhaasana, Dhanuraasana, Sarvaangaasana, Chakraasana, Ardhamatsyendra, Part by Part Relaxation and Yoga Mudra

Target Audience

Only people who are fit and deeply interested in the esoterics of Asanas and are older than 12.

Pre-requisite

LIY 101 or proficiency with Kapaalabhati. Only people who are fit. Overweight and weak people are not qualified for this course.



LIY 210 - Meditative Practices

Detailed exploration of meditation techniques for those who have a spiritual interest or seek to use it for deep relaxation.

- Different forms of meditation

- How to select ones personal practice

Practice Content:

- Anuloma-Viloma Praanaayaama; Aanaa-paanaa Meditation; Chakra Meditation; Mantra or music based meditation; Intro to Vipaasana Meditation;

LIY 211 - Vipassana Meditation

It is important to note that the Vasistha Samhita only provides one view on the Naadi system. Other documents have different views. Vasistha Samhita text published by Kailvalyadhama, Lonavla, India will be the main reference text.
